How has the game changed? |
Recruiting methods are changing. The Internet has rapidly become the new community where people live. This cyberspace world has its own language and its own road map. While many older workers spend time on the Internet, they spend their time in different places than young “gamers” and fresh college graduates. Recruiters/Managers will need to change their communication efforts accordingly. The new worker is coming into the hiring process with resources that older workers never had. The problem with the traditional hiring process is that it has become a game. A game filled with highly polished resumes and carefully rehearsed answers to interview questions from any number of guides like “Job Interviews for Dummies” by Joyce Lain Kennedy where she offers tips like “Being you can be poor advice.” In most cases, the person who gets hired is the person who knows how to play the game best, not necessarily the person who is the best fit for the job. This simple mistake can often cost a company thousands of dollars through lowered productivity and higher employee turnover. It’s time to change the game!
