As the newest generation in the workforce, Millennials have occupied a disproportional about of bandwidth in both the digital and traditional media. Employers and Millennials themselves have made their positions known with regard to the impact of this generation in the workforce.
Far less attention has been paid to how to manage Millennials as employees. This is the generation raised by “helicopter parents” that swoops in and deals with their crises and conflicts. Academic institutions have become accustomed to parents calling about their children’s applications, schedules and progress reports – managers should be forewarned that this is now coming to the work place.
So as a manger, how are you going to deal with Millennials in the work place, not to mention their parents?
